Making Snack Time Easy and Enjoyable – And A Coupon!

Thank you to SuperPretzel for sponsoring this post!  All opinions are my own and you can find out more about SuperPretzels, along with some amazing recipes on their Website.

Personally, I like to believe that I was prepared for parenthood when my children entered the world. I knew it would messy and exhausting. I knew that it involved a lot of overwhelming joy and unbelievable heartache. And because of the great resource that is the internet, I knew that a lot of judgment was also waiting for me. However, one thing that I was absolutely not prepared for was the shear amount of SNACKS that kids go through. I mean, seriously, these kids seem to be bottomless pits that never truly get filled up.

Now, I would love to sit here and tell you that I only offer my kids healthy choices for snacks and everything that they eat is completely homemade. Honestly though…..there’s no way I could keep up with that. However, I am lucky in the fact that there are quite a few times that my offspring do choose fresh fruits and vegetables for snacks, but sometimes they just want something that is more filling and will satisfy their tummies longer than one or two pieces of fruit can. As a mom, I encourage them to make choices that are good for them most of the time, but I also know that you only have one childhood and some things that aren’t necessary the healthiest are just plain tasty and won’t cause life-altering harm if enjoyed once in awhile.

Since the summer months will be here in just a few weeks, I know I need to get a little more organized in the snack planning department. A couple of reasons for this; I work from home and want the kids to be a little more independent when it comes to picking and getting their snacks and I feel like we have gotten into a really monotonous pattern when it comes to what we have been eating, especially for snacks. Like I said before, I’m not opposed to snacks that are from the store and pre-made, but having the same exact same option for months on end gets boring and inevitably it ends up in someone refusing to eat it after awhile.

Therefore, I changed my menu-planning sheet and I’ve been spending a ton of time on Pinterest looking up different snack options and making a ton of lists (yes, I’m a list-maker to fault…just ask my husband) for snack and meal ideas. Plus, I’ve been doing a little kitchen re-organization to make it easier for the kids and me to find a pleasing snack that doesn’t take a lot of assistance or prep-time.  The best way I have found to do this is to create zones within the pantry, refrigerator, and freezer so we all know exactly where to look when we want something to nibble on. Honestly, it is such a simple solution and has made it so much faster to find exactly what we are looking for.

One of the go-to snacks that my kids have been loving when they want something to fill up on is SuperPretzels. They are such a delicious and quick snack that can be ready in 30 seconds for those times when you or the kids need something RIGHT NOW! Plus, they are made from wheat flour and come with a salt pack included, which means you could definitely choose to only add as much or as little as you like (or completely off if you don’t care for salty items).

What kinds of snacks do you or your kids enjoy that are quick to make and delicious? Do you tend to stick to snacks that take a little bit of prep-time or do you prefer to have items that are grab and go? I’d love to hear your opinions (and ideas) in the comments!

Have a happy day!
